About Hawaiian Malolo

Hawaiian Malolo Bird Teasers was founded in 2020 and built on a deeply rooted love and passion for pelagic fishing. The two founders, Kydd Pollock and Greg Moss, collectively have decades of fishing experience and making lures.
Many companies manufacture saltwater pelagic trolling attraction devices but we wanted to take it one step further and customize a bird teaser that would attract more fish. Kydd and Greg joined forces to further develop the Hawaiian Malolo Bird Teaser by spending countless hours on the ocean testing leading edge construction materials. This has resulted in the utilization of extra tough urethane resin, polycarbonate injection molding, the most rugged rigging components that withstand the constant action of the birds and colors that send fish into a frenzy.
Kydd and Greg never rest on their laurels and continue to improve their product through working with professional gamefish captains globally. Receiving feedback from the best in the field who troll Hawaiian Malolo birds every day is critical to taking these teasers to the next level. They look to apply even the smallest modification to improve their products and always welcome constructive feedback.
Meet Kydd
Kydd got hooked on fishing at a very young age, growing up working on his father’s long range charter fishing vessel in New Zealand. Subsequently he has fished and dived most of the world’s oceans. At the age of 18 he was the youngest licensed boat captain in New Zealand. Thereafter Kydd attained additional captain’s licenses in Australia and the USA. He has held numerous national sportfishing records in New Zealand as well as IGFA world records.
After securing a Diploma in Marine Science, BS in Biology and Aquaculture, Kydd has gone on to gain valuable geographically diverse professional experience in the merchant mariner field, ocean engineering, aquaculture and science while never losing his penchant for fishing. He eventually settled in Honolulu, Hawaii with his family where he continues to follow his passions. He spends many months of the year carrying out marine conservation research that includes tagging recreationally important sportfish species.
Kydd has always had an affinity for trolling for large pelagic gamefish. While doing so, he has seen the value in adding attractiveness to the lures he trolls and experimented with daisy chains, spreader bars and bird teasers. This has culminated in the development of Hawaiian Malolo Bird Teasers.
Meet Greg
Greg Moss was born and raised in Hawaii and has been a passionate fisherman from a very young age. He landed his first pelagic fish at age 12 and has never looked back. Greg has fished commercially in Hawaii and Alaska, is a saltwater flyfishing guide and fishes recreationally on his boat for pelagic gamefish whenever possible. Greg is a masterful saltwater fly tyer, has been making pelagic trolling lures for over 45 years and has a meticulous eye for detail.
It was this mutual love for creating beautiful, unique, and incredibly effective fishing lures and catching fish that brought Kydd and Greg’s talents together to create Hawaiian Malolo Bird Teasers.
